Prayer is so simple; It is like quietly opening a door
And slipping into the very presence of God,
There is the stillness
to listen to His voice;
Perhaps to petition,
Or only to listen:
It matters not.
Just to be there
In His presence
Is prayer

My twelve year old daughter read this to me tonight from this book. I thought I would share.

I love that.
Looks like a great book, how is she liking it?
Love the quote.
Especially love the fact that your 12-year-old is reading that.
And then that she is sharing it with her mom!
I looked at it on the link and think I might get it for my 12-year-old girl. Thanks for sharing!
It thrills my heart to see the way the Lord works - He is so amazing. The Holy Spirit whispered the words of Jer. 29:11-13 into my heart this morning. It was the "I will listen" that moved me. And now this precious prayer.
Thank you for sharing it Chris.
I love that she read this to you...
and it's beautiful, too.
I'm keeping this in mind for my daughters in a few years!
Hi Chris, I'm really trying to point out the true meaning of prayer and why we do it. Because God wants a relationship w/us. That is why He created us. That seems to be easy for my kids to grasp. Great post!
Love it. LOVE Elizabeth George. What a great quote!
Wow, that's good.
I should look and see if there is a book like that for young men. I was just thinking the other day after doing my Isaiah lesson about how I'm noticing that sometimes prayer at our house gets turned into a thing to "check off the list" where we just kind of do it as part of a routine. Chapter one in Isaiah really taught me that the Lord is tired of people going through the motions. I discovered that sometimes when I pray with my kids, I'm not speaking to God from my heart. That's something I'd like to really work on.
