And here is how you can tell besides my daughter putting her hand print in the snow on our front porch:
loud praise music and the smell of pancakes fills the house. Our official snow day breakfast. My twelve year old has been busy this morning.
The kids are hoping for a fun day! (shhh...they will be cleaning their rooms and helping me complete some much needed work in the house. I can no longer over look the winter storm that has struck in each of their rooms.)
But don't worry, it can't be a snow day without building a snow man and hot cocoa.

Oh isn't it fun to be the mom?! Cleaning their rooms on an unexpected day off from school! I tell my kids that's why they have early bedtimes...to give me time to think of ways to be "mean" to them!
Stay warm!
It happened! I love your plan. Give them pancakes first then break the news to them. It softens the blow. LOL. I'll have to try that.
Can I come play?! Oh, wait...you're working. Never mind ;-)
Oh, I so wish we were having a snow day (minus the work, of course). All we have here is an overcast sky and scattered rain.
Hi! Found your site while visiting Renee's. My son would do ANYTHING for a snow day, but living in Canada, "Snow Day's" are the norm and even when school buses are cancelled - like today - the schools are still open and we live too close to the school to use driving as an excuse!
Hope you had a fun snow day yesterday.

So fun! I miss the snow of East Tennessee, where I am from:)
Such special memories with your kids.
